For the Quarter 3 Exam you will be tested on the information from Unit 5 Lesson 2-3, and Unit 6. You are responsible to know and understand all of the vocabulary in this study guide as well as the information from the textbook, the online lessons, and any activities or notes in your Science notebook.

Unit 5 Weather Study Guide

Lesson 2: What are types of weather?

Vocabulary: weather, humidity, air pressure, cirrus, stratus, cumulus, and cumulonimbus clouds

*Identify factors that make up weather (air temperature, humidity, air pressure, and precipitation)
*Explain how weather conditions are measured.
*Describe what causes wind to blow.
*Understand that air participles are closer together in cold air than in warmer air
*Be able to explain how a cloud is formed.
*Know the differences between types of clouds and what weather they can predict.
*Explain the different types of precipitation and how they form.
*Describe how clouds are formed.

*Explain how fronts affect/change weather.
*Explain how meteorologists get data/information about the weather.

 Unit 6 Earth & Space

Lesson 1 How do the Sun, Earth, and Moon interact?
*Vocabulary: interact, rotate, axis, orbit, constellation
*How do the Sun, Earth, and Moon interact?
*Describe the movements of Earth, the moon, and the sun in space
*Explain how the rotation of Earth causes day and night
*Recognize that seasons result from the tilt and orbit of Earth around the sun

Lesson 2 Moon Phases
*Vocabulary: moon phases, satellite, waxing crescent, waxing gibbous, waning gibbous, waning crescent
*Name (and spell correctly) all 8 phases of the moon
*Identify and predict changes in the appearance of the moon
*Draw and correctly label each of the moon phases in the correct order

Lesson 4 Planets
*Vocabulary: solar system, planet, inner and outer planets, asteroid, comet
*Name all of the planets and spell them correctly
*Name the planet order from the sun
*Know which planets are inner and which are outer and why

*Be able to compare and contrast different planets
